Belgium

MAP OF BELGIUM

HISTORY

Belgium is one of the first six original members of the European Community and hosts its Head-Quarters in Brussels. It abides by two main languages: French in Wallonia & Dutch in Flanders. From the golden age of Flemish paintings, when Belgium was part of the kingdom of Burgundy, to its being ruled by Emperor Charles V, and afterwards associated with Spanish & Austrian Flanders and later with the kingdom of Netherlands, Belgium has traveled smoothly throughout history to finally conquer its independence in 1830.

Belgium has forever conquered the hearts of its fellowmen by the kindness and simplicity of its inhabitants, the talent of its singers, the sweetness of its chocolate and the extreme variety of its beers. There, every ordinary house will look poetic… and you may feel like blues was born in Belgium…

From the beauty of Bruges, also called the Venice of the North, to the green Ardennes, from the Rubenshuis in Antwerp to the Grand Place of Brussels, you will relish your stay in Belgium, as much as a coal minor appreciates coming out from darkness to light or as much as a hard working man relishes a few moments of rest. Then, even French fries, mussels and beer taste like heaven,..
